MUSIC WITH A PURPOSE

On September 2nd 2022 Rotary D9213 & D9214 held the most spectacular music concert at Speke Resort in Munyonyo Uganda. It was music with a purpose. It was Africa’s Peace Concert in support of Makere University Peace Center in Uganda. There was no better month to have this concert as the World Day of Peace falls on 21st September. The Guest of Honour was Rotary International President Jeniffer Jones, as this was part of her official visit to Districts 9213 & 9214 in Uganda.

Concurrently there was ongoing training that marked the 1st Cohort of the Rotary Positive Peace Activators from around the world. This training was led by the Institute of Economics and Peace. The activators will lead Peace Building Activities in their respective countries. The Center is one of the seven Rotary Peace Centers worldwide that offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Peace-building, Conflict Transformation, and Development hosted by the Makerere University Peace and Conflict Studies Program (PCS).

Up to 40 Fellowships are awarded annually for the Professional Development Certificate Program at the Makerere Rotary Peace Center, Kampala, Uganda. The Center is hosted by Makerere University, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Africa.

Did you know you can donate to the Rotary Foundation and forward your donation to any Rotary Peace Center? Well, now you know.
