What does it take to improve the situation in your community? It starts with that inner voice that is eager to help and wants to be part of something important.

It is that thought and actualization of doing something impactful, no matter how small, one day at a time, so as to improve our society. Each one of us has the ability to effect change in our own (small) way, that’s the power of one.

“The power of one is above all things the power to believe in yourself, often well beyond any latent ability you may have previously demonstrated.” ~ Bryce Courtenay, author of the novel ‘The Power of One’.

How can one person change the conscience of an organization? It is the leaders, mentors, coaches and managers focusing on individual development, that profoundly impacts the team’s development and performance. One of the world’s most recognized authorities on leadership, John C. Maxwell describes it well, “Leadership is the power of one harnessing the power of many.”

A single person with a clarity of conscience and a willingness to speak up, can make a difference. The leader, by contributing to the greater good, can skillfully bring a voice and a vision, that others will follow and surprising things can happen.

Our passion lies deep in who we are, not what we do. The power of one is not about being self-centered, rather about being socio-centric and recognizing each action we take, creates a reaction and impact on others, whether we realize it or not.

“The power of one, if fearless and focused, is formidable, but the power of many working together is better.” ~ Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
What will your power of one be?
