Time really flies. Just as we were still on One Love vibes, We Marched Together with DG Azeb aka Pendo as we Imagined Rotary in the year 2022-2023, where she encouraged us to wrap ourselves with the ‘Care and Support’ philosophy. As the year comes to an end, RI President, Gordon R. McInally takes over from Jennifer Jones, with the theme “Create Hope in the World”, he urges members to promote peace in troubled nations, help those affected by conflict, and maintain the momentum of initiatives begun by past leaders. “The goal is to restore hope — to help the world heal from destructive conflicts and, in turn, to help us achieve lasting change for ourselves.” ~ McInally.
Our District 9212 Governor Elect, Leonard Ithau, whose theme is “We Are One”, has called on Rotarians to embody the spirit of Rotary, emphasizing the power of togetherness and the strength of collective efforts. “As Rotarians, we are united behind a common goal, serving above self and striving to create bigger, more impactful projects that make a lasting impact in our communities.” ~ Ithau.
Rotary is the world’s oldest and most important service organization in the world. In enhancing participant engagement and expanding our reach, we talk about Rotary members as people of action, reflect on how we see ourselves and what makes us different. While helping others clearly understand who Rotarians are, and what Rotary is about, we create a personal connection by emphasizing how we create change in the communities we serve. As I take over the mantle from my beautiful sister and senior Rotarian, President Hilda Gikera, my Board and I are tasked to “Create Hope in the World” for “We Are One” come 1st of July 2023.
“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.” ~ John Lennon. Let’s be hopeful, won’t we.
