One of the ways in which the Rotary Club of Hurlingham (RCH) responded to the Rotary International (RI) President Ian Riseley’s challenge for the Rotary family to plant more trees was by getting involved in tree planting in schools. RCH commenced a project to plant trees at Muthangari Primary School in April 2018. Muthangari Primary School is a local government school located in Lavington area, Nairobi County with an enrolment of 280 girls and 220 boys in 2018. On April 4, 2018, RCH together with a group of pupils planted 200 trees at the school; Rotaractors from the Rotaract Clubs of Technical University of Kenya and Karura partnered in the event. The tree planting was timely given the onset of rains in April 2018. Follow up and education day was in July 2018 to ensure there is sustainability in environmental conservation.
